We are witnessing the rise of bike sharing transform major cities around the world. New York City’s brand new Citi Bike program is immensely popular, Boston’s New Balance Hubway program exceeded expectations and totaled over 1 million rides before it’s 2 year anniversary, Chicago recently launched a 4000 bike program Divvy, and Washington D.C.’s Captial Bikeshare, established in 2010, continues to expand. It seems to be a great time to review this growing phenomenon.

TGIF! Here at WegoWise our team enjoys collaborating and putting up something fun for you all to look forward to this weekend. What’s a weekend without a good-tasting summer dessert to cool you off, right? Our team took some time to narrow down a few of our favorite summer desserts (it was really hard to narrow down to just 5!). Not only are these desserts DELICIOUS, but many of these places provide organic ingredients, healthy options, and best of all, they are all local businesses that promote a sustainable environment.
1. Frozen Yogurt:
One of the most popular treats year-round is frozen yogurt. With loads and loads of different flavors and endless amount of toppings, like fresh fruits; it’s no wonder why this fun, cooling treat is a favorite not only in our WegoWise office, but everywhere else!
One of our favorites is nearby our office is Wild Cherry.
2. Ice cream:
Ice cream isn’t necessarily the healthiest option, but fresh milk, eggs, and just a few added extras doesn’t hurt once in awhile, right? After all, it’s a treat for a reason. This is a perfect dessert for those fans out there that enjoy the creamy custard.
One of our favorite places would be: Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream
3. Fruit Salad:
Not too long ago we wrote about farmers market, and we think they are the perfect places to get fresh fruits. Different farmers gather in one spot to provide fruits that you could just eat right on the spot. This season there are blueberries, strawberries, peaches, plums, and apples. The list goes on and on. Let’s not forget a summer favorite: watermelon!
Check out ... Boston’s Dewey Square farmers market
4. Cookies:
We know, we know, you’re thinking cookies? How is that cooling? Well, when you have the equal balance of homemade ice cream right in between two freshly made chocolate chip cookies; you’ll know what we’re talking about. There are a variety of cookies, so pick your favorite and get a big scoop of ice cream and you’ll have the best of both worlds.
One of our favorites would be: The Cookie Monstah truck
5. Snow cones:
The ultimate childhood treat. Fun colors like blue, red, orange, yellow, and green all over the finely crushed ice. This is definitely a summer treat that will be great on those really hot summer days.
Hopefully you’ll be able to treat yourself to one, two, or three of our summer favorites. Please post a comment down below to let us know what you enjoyed, or perhaps attach a picture for us to see. Happy Friday!Tags: Sustainability, Recycling, Green living, Friday Links

What is the “Coffee Trike”?
The coffee trike derived its catchy name from Alessandro “San” Bellino. He is originally from Australia, and came to the states to study at the Berklee School of Music. Throughout those years, he worked in several coffee shops to develop his skills in becoming a coffee enthusiast.

It’s Friday, and you all should know what that means . . . weekly links! That’s right, the WegoWise team has put together a list of 5 fun, sustainable, and entertaining activities that are happening right in our hometown, Boston, MA so on this Fourth of July weekend you can have some activities lined up! It’s definitely tough to be in the city and think of how “green” it can be, especially because cities are mostly built environments. Aside from industrialization, you can’t stop from noticing the streets covered in trash, air full of car exhaust, and lack of large green spaces! However, some cities in the U.S. have begun to push these stereotypes aside. The WegoWise, Inc. team decided to gather 7 cities that have promoted sustainability in great ways. Check it out!

As more and more people leave single-family and multi-family suburban homes, they begin to move towards the city. Places like Boston, New York, and Los Angeles are flooded with young professionals who are on the look-out for apartments that will make their wallet feel comfortable while being close to their work place. For these young professionals, moving allows them to develop their career path in a fast-paced , urban environment. A city like Boston, where WegoWise, Inc. is based, can tell you that living in a city where there is growth in demand for downtown living causes limited housing space. Enter micro units, a small sized apartment, perfect for one or two, that just might be a new and innovative way of living in urban downtowns.
The WegoWise office is abuzz today in anticipation of our homecity's own music festival, Boston Calling, this weekend. Music festivals continue to gain popularity around the world, with thousands of eventgoers streaming in to remote (and not-so-remote) locations to celebrate and listen to some tunes. With such a concentration of people staying, partying, and doing the things people do, music festivals have an uphill struggle to avoid potentially serious environmental impacts. Whether your a concerned citizen, an avid festival-goer, or planning your own Memorial Day "boombox, burgers and buds" backyard festival this weekend, take a look at our Friday links and get some knowledge!
